Thoughts and Thanks
I guess you could say this collage of songs is a family portrait, painted with words and music. It’s who and what I believe in, how I get through the hard days, and where I find my joy. I hope as you listen, you’ll hear things we have in common and be able to paint a portrait of your own.
My thanks to everyone who had a part in creating this project. To the writers, musicians, and vocalists; you picked & mixed the paint. To the producer and engineers; you guided the strokes on the canvas. To the REAL artists from Rachel Motta’s Art Class at The King’s Daughters’ School, the photographer, and the graphic designer; you helped us see the music, gave it a beautiful frame, and hung it on the wall. Kenneth Johnson, a special thanks to you for your pencil portrait. It was an honor to work with all of you.
To God, my family, and friends, whose love continues to bless me, I leave you this quote:
“So much has been given to me. I don’t have time to ponder what I’ve been denied.” Helen Keller
Last month I asked for your help to create the cover for my upcoming CD,
“More Than Just Getting By”. We received some beautiful paintings from Ms. Rachel Motta’s art class at The King’s Daughters’ School down in Columbia, Tennessee. It was impossible to choose. So it was decided that we would create a collage from their paintings. I loved that Rachel used the lyrics to teach the children about real and symbolic meanings of words.
Check out her blog, Wednesday January 27th entry, to see what the class did. http://artwithrmotta.blogspot.com/ A special thanks to Kenneth, who drew the pencil portrait. Our graphic designer, Paul Reissner, is working feverishly now to create the collage. I can’t wait to see the final product.
We're looking at lots of great pictures here for the Cover Art. You've done some beautiful work. Now decisions have to be made. I'll let you know the verdict soon. Thank you all again. We couldn't do it without you! This will be the icing on the cake. ;-)
I have a new project coming out early in 2010, and I need your help with the Cover Art.
